High power solenoids are designed to switch high currents in DC applications.  Similar to a relay, but designed for heavy duty switching applications like motor control.  Solenoids allow for a low input current to switch a high output current - for example, a starter solenoid on an automobile.  Available in either insulated or grounded configurations.  Insulated solenoids require the attachment of a gound wire to the solenoid for activation, where grounded solenoids rely on the mounting of the solenoid to a chassis for a ground.  Intermitent solenoids are designed to switch very high currents for short periods of time.  Most solenoids are single pole, single throw (SPST), and one that we carry is single pole, double throw (SPDT).  Weather resistant solenoids are also available.
